DRIVING DIRECTIONS FROM DURANGO:

Hwy 160 West from Durango to Mancos, CO. (27 miles).

* Turn Right: In Mancos, at stoplight (Hwy 160 W. and North main Street.

* .3 miles: Turn Right on to County Road 42. Paved road which quickly turns into gravel. Drive carefully.

* 9.8 miles: Turn right on Road 565.

* .8 mile. Arrive at destination.


Continue through the Forest Service “Transfer Campground”, which is concessionaire operated.

* In a short distance you will find a parking area loop, where you may park your vehicle.

To the left of the parking area you will find trail access. Note: This is part of a 39 mile trail network groomed for OHV vehicles.


Transfer Campround is a hub for a wide variety of forest service roads and trails.

CAMERA EQUIPMENT / SETTINGS SUGGESTIONS:


HIKING INFO: This is an aspen tree forest. Lighting conditions through the day will constantly change, as light filters through the tree leaves. Your favorite camera is probably the best. A light weight tripod is a good idea. The terrain is not overly challenging, but the elevation is 8000 feet plus. Bring water and snacks.
